Those days are gone when to see that guy everyday, you used to visit college and wherein you don't even know his name. You visited your friend's house everyday only to interact with the sweet chick living next door. Intercollegiate competitions meant just checking out new guys and girls and forget them once the festival is over.

This is new age. People fall in love in a day without seeing each other by just talking on phone. Facebook is the new portfolio for all the models out there who might scare you in person. Twitter means meeting new chicks in tweetups and breaking the relationship on the web portal itself in public.

Is this what Gen Next thinks love is?


Love comes in only with a price. Price here means lying to parents to friends, going the wrong way, breaking rules, aligning your life with someone else's and a host of other problems or situations you may say which soemtimes brings you at the brink. You might think that this is just the end and you cannot work this out or suicide thoughts are an everyday norm. If so, you need to look at the situation of others. Probably sharing love stories is hence one hell of an experience.

There is no harm in falling in love. But there is a cause of concern or an alarm that you need to keep at your end. What is this alarm?

Fall in love? Nope. Rise in love!!!

Love asks for sacrifice but no sacrifice should crush your ethical values. It should lead you to love one more person in live but not leave everyone else whom you have loved all through the years. It should motivate you to achieve more heights in terms of confidence, career, etc. and not make you weak so much so that you fear your own mirror.

How do we do this?

Be friends first. Friendship gives you time to explore the person and his attitude towards life. Make the person meets your close friends and people whom you trust a couple of times. Be open to criticism about the person who you like, this will help you to know the person from a different angle. Meet the opposite person's close friends/ parents/ colleagues. A man is known by the company he keeps. Do you like them? If yes, then great. If not, why does he have such a company. Drinking and smoking is not a great deal these days but anything extreme is not good as well.

All of the above does not pertain to only serious relationships. This also applies to flings! You might not know where you might end up if you are stuck with a wrong person even for split 5 minutes.

Well, coming back, these are just a few steps before you step in into a relationship but what when you are already in. Keep a distance over a period of time. Do not reveal your financial details and seek much emotional support. Distance is always good in a relationship as advancing fast might earn you negative points as well. Spend enough time so as to know each other but do not forget to hang out with your family and friends as well. If this relationship does not work, they will be the ones to support you.

Last but not the least. Keep yourself updated and independent enough financially and emotionally throughout your life so you do not end up with a piece of paper and a pen attempting to write an unwanted suicide note! Love should make your life worth living and not tick your clock to death.

Moods...

We all live by it... Either it’s our mood or it’s someone else around us... Little did we all know that neither the heart nor the mind nothing rules humans more than their moods... Emotions at its best swing in only to realize that later you are doing absolutely opposite of what you planned... For right now, I wanted to write something else but the moment the word doc opened, my fingers wrote the word moods and thoughts just started flowing in...

My earlier posts on space and stuff are a part of making up the moods but it’s mostly your mentality, upbringing and current circumstances ruling your moods and mind... But when I listen to the word moods, it’s kinda stupid but I am reminded of the character in Harry Potter called Moody!

Something that my friend wrote once for me on Orkut testimonials... yeah good old days when social networking had just started, I would like to quote him, 

“Mental attribute: - Statutory warning “Can blow at any time. 

Description: - she has this binary system of mood, 0 means sad and 1 means happy (no gray areas) and the mood keeps on swinging from one state to another faster than a computer (tell this technique to intel they will earn in billion).” 

But controlling your moods is necessary as it may trigger us to land up in the worst situations in life... For ex.: I know a female, you may say 10 things which can irritate her per say but she is so calm to the core that you feel that you are trying to cut an iron rod by a wooden plank and not vice-a-versa. 

Who’s benefited in this whole stint... You? Me? Or She? It’s SHE!

But there are pros and cons as well... You may not react to people’s sentiments, emotions and actions and this may lead to making them aggressive. They may think that you do not care for them and their sentiments but is this what you want to portray? In the long run, I guess no... But yes, there is an individual call... Today you may want one person to be away from you and you might not react to their sentiments but is it same for all?

Indians are getting married!

‘Life is a surprise’ I had this tagline as my email id for one of the networking websites!

But now after reaching the quarter life, I can actually understand why is it called like that!

Iguana inspite of being beautiful can never be a chameleon but then they still are happy that they belong to the same breed and someday they might change the fate and fight the norms of the life…

India, the only country believing in arrange marriage and actually practicing it, has driven every generation of youth to go through this madness. Even today, I actually know people who willing stand on the edge of this sword and are willing to sacrifice their lives over it! I understand the gyaan on customs and everything but what’s with not having the freedom to choose their own partner… Someone with whom you would want to share a life with…

CASTE! This word actually has the power to trigger World War III more than Nostradamus ka prediction on Barack Obama triggering the war. Instantly you think why the word caste? Well this arrange marriage system is still prevailing in India only coz of that… Otherwise every third person falling in love would not think that is she Gujarati or Marathi? Why do you have to think this? The other person is someone whom you like… whose thinking you would prefer… someone who you feel for whom you would be awake the whole night!

It’s just a question but if this question has stalled so many lives!

Surprise is that when you love someone irrespective of him/her being from some other caste but later after understanding ‘dunyadaari’, feelings are overpowered by customs and strategized emotions! Life has surprised us by changing our line of thought to follow the path like a blind horse!

NextGen Leaders...

These days reaching office early in the morning has become a norm… Being an advertising firm, it’s completely vacant and you kinda feel like you are the king. By 10am, people start pooling in with their heavy heart of spending the whole day under pressure… Our lives are so monotonous be it the CEO or the executive, we have our routine schedules but we all have our different agendas and we all reach the top and that too pretty soon. Ever pondered on how these people reach and why… Presumption that most reach the top coz their dad’s are the owners or through reference is a myth! They are knowledgeable dude… seriously they capture each and every moment as learning and stick to it.


Today’s youth is dynamic and aspires to reach the top but most when you check on the IQ levels astound you as to how come they even reached here where they stand. Yes, I met one such person who made me question whether we were ever taught the basics of science or geography in our schools!


So this chick is 25 year old gujju lady hailing from my firm (advertising is supposed to be intellectual firm right!) who is mind you working for 5 years now, had reached a little early that day… and we happened to discuss Tsunami as it has questioned our future on earth… It was Wednesday morning and fresh tremors with 6.0 Richter scale had hit Tokyo at 7am IST so I informed flaunting my knowledge as an efficient PR person keeping a check on everything specially when half my friends call me the google girl! The other colleague inquisitively asked, “Tsunami toh nai aayega na?” I was like nai nai! So our lady says, “Arre earthquake aaya hai toh Tsunami thodi aata hai!” My eyeballs almost popped out but concealing the expression, I explained how earthquake in sea causes Tsunami. This was just the start!


“Pata nai yeh global warming ki wajah se aur kya kya hoga!”


Hearing the statement, I couldn’t relate whether she was taking the topic to some other level or she was continuing the same topic! Again but you know narcissists like me never give up, again I flaunted and informed about how Mayan calendar and civilization and the concept of even scientists predicting how Sun storm may lead to an end of earth! I refused to believe that she had never ever heard about either of the cases! I ignored still… discussion further moves to global warming…


“Lahore mein lava aaya tha voh global warming tha na! Kitna nuksaan hua tha!”


Now if even one person remembers of any sort of lava in lahore, I will give you a gold medal and a thousand bucks and if you can remotely connect to any other reality then you and I are exceptions! Yes! I did predict and checked, “Are you talking of Latur ka earthquake jiski vajah se Surat mein plague hua tha?”


“Ohhhh haannn right right latur tha sorry… (aur lava nai tha!) par uski vajah se surat mein kaise plague ho sakta hai! Kuch bhi pakati hai (laughing mockingly)!”


I had lost by this time and the other chick who was hearing the whole conversation fell short of shocked expressions! I didn’t bother to explain how the plague happened but clarified that it was not coz of global warming but before I could explain anything further, I didn’t know one more sixer was coming in!


“Arre but jo sukha pada hota hai, that is also earthquake na!”


Here, I really felt like a school teacher teaching a third standard student that a sukha might be on the surface of the earth with 2m cracks maximum and is caused coz of global warming and extreme heat! While earthquake is caused coz of tectonic plates of the earth. Infact I went ahead and explained that the depletion of ozone layer has caused many snow mountains at the north and the south poles to melt and is non-existent today increasing the level of water in the oceans. Obviously after the earlier encounters you can’t expect her to know this! That’s not it, Sachin most of the times never makes you loose your expectations and ek aur six toh maarta hi hai! Here you go, one more…


“Oh, that’s why Tsunami is coming!”


Had it been some student then I would have said refer chapter number one but bade bachchon ko kaun bole aur kaise! I ignored and went ahead talking about how moon is coming closer to earth this year and will cause a lot many changes in the sea… Mistake! Mummy ne kitni baar kaha hai ki zyada mat bolo, chup raho! Par nai tumhe toh bas apni hi jhaadni hai!


“Ohh, so it had come closer in 2005 also?”


Think, think fucking hard and if you can remember any damn thing that moon did to earth in 2005 was devastating enough? No, you just can’t coz moon ka basically koi fault hai hi nai! So I questioned so did the other chick , “2005 mein kya hua tha?”


“Arre Mumbai mein Tsunami aaya tha naaaa…!”


I fainted.


P.S. By this time, I had got brains and didn’t bother to explain what a cloud burst is and how Leh was affected by artificial cloudburst! I finally learnt from my earlier mistakes you see!


Learning: This female is earning higher than me and is at par with some knowledgable people. Are we expecting her to be the nextgen Leader? But she herself thinks so! Do you have such misconceptions in your mind or are you conceptually strong to justify yourself!

Space…

It was an unknown term to me when I was dating five long years back… I used to really like this guy and being in a long distance relationship mostly ended up talking for long hours…

Initially there is an urge, I understand rather we all know that… but over a period of time, people who are used to a lot of friends find it suffocating… As you age, you actually realize the meare feeling that your partner is around all the time aggravates and agitates your mind… And the only thing that you are looking for is to fuck off from that continuous attention seeking/ giving person… Yes, you noticed it right… Seeking as well as giving both seem like a life of a lion in a golden cage stating him to be like the president sitting and signing papers finalized by the prime minister!

The idea is not to flirt with someone else… It is to be free enough to talk to my own friends… You have just entered my life… they have been here for a long time now… Instantaneously yours is just not possible… Two years post I broke up… I never dated anyone that seriously but I definitely understood the meaning that my guy meant by ‘SPACE!’… I just wanted to be with myself… play games, select music, watch movies, gossip with friends, reading, painting or probably just sleep… yes my love for sleep was discovered then by me and has till date continued with an ever increasing need for more sleep…

Now, when I look back… though I am glad it was not the reason for the breakup but I definitely understand that it would have irritated him… coz now strangely I have some really close friends who just track my every move which pisses me off to the core… It’s the same way as guys say, “We do not like that you come to know the intentions behind every move or you derive meanings about what are we thinking now…”

Space is a very relaxing mood or an agitated mood wherein you seek calmness in things around but do not want to vent out on any third person by hurting them… You choose to be silent and not converse… and if that’s the case, please do give your partner the space as the more you leave them alone… the faster they recover from the mood…

Dreams...

Wearing an old pair of jeans and a long forgotten kurta, I woke up this morning with the faith that nobody had messed around with the last night's painting that was left half way. Someone was rattling utensils with effort intruding my sleep and dreams!

Dreams.... Word itself takes us either to an imaginative, non-existent world or to the wishful circle of life that seems only to have all the perfect times! But no, that's not true for all people who dream... I didn't mean Inception exists in the real world but yes there are Evil dreams as we would call in... I had some where read this that you can know more about a person and his personality through his dreams...Is that true? Something like how listening to a certain genre of music drives your thoughts to that particular mode... but dreams are not same as that...

What about fearful dreams?

What about scary dreams?

What about dreams that we never remember or recollect?

What about those wherein you see people whom you have hardly known or rather have just seen them once in a lifetime and still they appear in your dreams with no certain purpose?

What about those wherein you dream yourself aiming high in the sky and touching the universe with bare hands?

What about just wishful dreams?

What about the ones wherein you are dreaming of committing sinful deeds like crime, rape, etc?

What about the ones where you are getting married with every man you see and have kids with them?

What about those wherein you dream of certain situations in life that are bound to happen some or the other day?

What about those wherein life was just not what it is on earth and you thought of the world ending in 2012?

Decoding all these dreams will be much more difficult than diverting your thoughts through music..... Ever wondered how a psychiatrist deals with his patients and their varied imaginations? Ah...difficult neah? Dreams are also harmful....they can drive a common man crazy while to a fearful man, it may give a hope to live..... Well, you can say it's a god's imaginative creation different enough for each one of us to live, feel and DREAM!!!

Stages in Life..

The other day I bumped into my school friend... once upon a time, a girl whom I used to look upto... the one who was my role model ..... like I wanted to be like her types... I was astonished to see that pricy, I don't care attitude girl, suddenly was no more the same. She had turned fragile, sweet, down to earth.... something that I never would have thought of in our wildest dreams.. Our talks went on and on and we both almost shared a gist of our lives of past 3-4 years in jus half an hr and realized we both had come a long way in all this while...

Twists n turns make each one of us a personality that we are at present… I don’t remember a single friend of mine who hasn’t changed a bit in past few years… With every passing moment, we encounter a new situation changing our perceptions and bringing in a new change in us.. It depends on the individual on either to choose the positive or the negative… as we progress on either way, we do not realize until we reach a point wherein we realize and admit that yes, the change has settled in….

At every point in life, we introspect ourselves or rather ask others to point out whether we are on the right track … everything is a part & parcel in life….
